LORD'S PRAYER FOR THE "RIGHT"

Our Father (whose name we invoke for profit or to stir up unholy wars),
who art far, far, far, far away from our hearts in Heaven,
Hallowed be your gold, frankincense, Wal-Mart stock, Nike shoes, beach condos,
golf courses, Halliburtons, corporate tax-write-offs, and Enrons.
Our earthly empire of oil greed through blood lust come,
Our will be done
on earth, never as it would be in Heaven.
Give us this day our rich black oil in Iraq
and dead little girls in pink dresses on the road to Iran
and dark-haired little boys holding machine guns,
and we don’t a give a good goddamn if you forgive us
when we take Syria,
and damn those to hell who try to keep their homes and land from us.
And lead us into all manner of temptation, especially
delusion,
domination,
megalomania,
and the righteousness of torture, especially bludgeoning,
and the wholesale destruction
of what is left of a sane world, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights,
but deliver us from those of compassion
who would deter us,
anyone
who loves the powerless, the poor, and innocent,
We know you didn’t really mean
that whole joke about forgiveness
and peacemaking,
and loving “thy neighbors” crapola.
For ours is the Kingdom and the Power
and the Glory of the United States forever and ever.
Amen.
