Granny's Attic
fantastic inclusiveness,
its pluralism,
its qualmless promiscuity...
Everything is in here.
Whatever else you do or forbear,
impose upon yourself the task of happiness;
and now and then abandon yourself
to the joy of laughter.
And however much you condemn the evil in the world,
remember that the world is not all evil;
that somewhere children are at play,
as you yourself in the old days;
that women still find joy in the stalwart hearts of men;
And that men, treading with restless feet their many paths,
may yet find refuge from the storms of the world
in the cheerful house of love.
— Max Ehrmann, 1872-1945, American Lawyer, Philosopher, Poet
I hear and I forget.
I see and I remember.
I experience
and I understand.

DUST
To dust
Or not to dust
That is the question
'Tis nobler to strive for household perfection
And always be ready for white glove inspection
I'm equipped with vacuum, brooms, oils, rags and feathers that dust
All the dust getters they say are a must
I have an appliance designed just to bust dust
And another to filter dust from the air
Accordin' to their ads, none could compare
And still sometimes I let it get so deep
The dust begins to form a crust, before I sweep
From dust I came
To dust I'll go
In between I'll spend my life movin' it to and fro
Dust is not such awful stuff
Until the wind gives it a puff
Ask any elderly Okie, they'll tell you for sure
Blowin' dust can be hard to endure
So why am I complainin'?
My dust is stayin' fairly still
Here upon my window sill
'Spect there'll be some there 'til I die
Should I just leave it lie?
Or move it around causing more nasal congestion
To dust
Or not to dust
That is still the question
With my whole body I taste these peaches, I touch them and smell them.
— Wallace Stevens
